OHCVI was founded by Dr. Vahagn Ohanyan, MD, PhD. With over 20 years experience in cardiovascular research, as well as the academic understanding and professional skills of their team, OHCVI has the unique potential to address their clients’ needs.
After serving as the founder and director of a premier mouse microsurgery workshop for several years, Dr. Ohanyan realized the difficulties regarding the surgical and imaging techniques most researchers used. In addressing this concern, he designed and constructed a mouse intubation system (patent US 62/529,993). Using this method with high accuracy and precision, a mouse can be intubated in under 30 seconds without any skin incision. This system allows researchers to clearly visualize the glottis, vocal cord, and accordingly intubate without subsequent damage to any other structure. Continuing the advancement of procedural surgery, Dr. Ohanyan created the vascular hook, which allows transaortic constriction (TAC) surgery to be performed with minimally invasive techniques. With these novel technologies and advanced procedure, OHCVI can provide animal models of cardiovascular diseases, imaging, and treatment.
