Facilities We Provide
Ohan Cardiovascular Innovations’ laboratory has the capability to handle any size research project. In collaboration with REDIzone we have an additional 10,000 sq. ft of laboratory space available.
Animal Facility
The Comparative Medicine Unit (CMU) is under the direction of a veterinarian. He is certified as a specialist in laboratory animal medicine by the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM) and oversees a staff of eight (8) qualified personnel.
The CMU is a 41,000-square-foot, multi-species animal care and use facility. The facility has been continuously accredited by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care, International (AAALAC) since 1982.
In addition, the CMU is registered as a research facility with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA Registration #31-R-0092) and has an Animal Welfare Assurance number (#A3474-01) on file with the Public Health Service (PHS).The CMU provides a safe and secure environment for a broad range of animal species.
Echocardiography Facility
Our laboratory is equipped with state of the art technology.
Vevo 2100 High Resolution Ultrasound (The First Ultra High-Frequency Imaging Platform with Linear Array Technology)
The Vevo 2100 is the latest generation of high resolution ultrasound technology. It provides researchers with a non-invasive anatomical image of heart, blood vessels, tumors or normal abdominal organs with up to 50uM resolution. The Vevo 2100 ultrasound system features the first linear array ultrasound transducer capable of imaging in the 25-75MHz range, allowing multiple focal depths and improved feature detection.

System is utilized for myocardial blood flow measurements.
Surgical Facility
Ohan cardiovascular Innovations has small (mouse and rats) and large animal (rabbit, pigs, dogs) surgical facilities. All facilities are equipped with modern anesthesia machine, heating surgical tables and platforms, surgical monitoring systems (body temperature, heart rate, respiration rate).
